Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Angestrom (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our platform. We aim to collect as little as possible and to be clear about what we do.
1. Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly and some automatically:
- Account information — when you sign up, we store your email, a username, and (for password accounts) a securely hashed password. If you sign in with GitHub or Google, we receive your basic profile and email.
- Content you create — papers, articles, comments, collections, and other contributions you publish to the graph.
- Usage data — basic, privacy-respecting analytics such as which pages are visited, to improve the product.
- Payment information — if you subscribe, payments are processed by Stripe and PayPal. We never receive or store your full card details.
2. How we use your information
- To operate and improve the platform.
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- To process subscriptions and payments.
- To send important account and service notifications.
- To display your public contributions and profile, as you choose.
3. What we don't do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not show third-party advertising tied to your identity.
- We do not share your data except with the service providers needed to run Angestrom (e.g. hosting, payment processing) under their own privacy obligations.
4. Your rights
You can access, correct, or delete your account data at any time from your account settings, or by contacting us. Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, including the right to request a copy of your data or its deletion.
5. Data retention & security
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and hashed passwords. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data.
6. Third-party services
We rely on trusted providers including our hosting provider, Stripe and PayPal for payments, and authentication via GitHub and Google. Each has its own privacy policy governing the data it processes.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above, and where appropriate we'll notify you.
