Before the Action: Benchmarking LLMs on Prospective Hypothesis Discovery

Large language models (LLMs) excel at answering pre-specified questions, yet their ability to navigate the open-ended, pre-conclusion stage of discovery remains largely unmeasured. We introduce Prospective Hypothesis Discovery (PHD), which asks models to autonomously construct grounded, discriminative, and testable hypothesis spaces from inconclusive evidence, including anomalous observations and fragmented records, to guide subsequent investigation. To evaluate this capability, we introduce HypoArena, comprising HypoData, a benchmark of 988 cases across six scientific and analytical domains,

Kaleido: Algorithm-Hardware Co-Design for Video Diffusion Transformers by Exploiting Latent Space Correlations

Video diffusion transformers (vDiTs) generate high quality video but introduce extremely high compute cost due to the long diffusion timesteps and self attention computation. As diffusion timesteps are reduced, the computation cost of self attention becomes the dominant bottleneck. Existing acceleration approaches largely inherit sparse attention techniques from large language models, which fail to consider the unique spatiotemporal correlation of video data. This paper presents Kaleido, an algorithm hardware codesign that accelerates all operations in vDiTs by exploiting channel-wise spatio

WebSwarm: Recursive Multi-Agent Orchestration for Deep-and-Wide Web Search

Large language model (LLM)-based web search agents are transforming information seeking from simple factoid question answering into complex, deep-and-wide search and research-oriented tasks. A single ReAct-style agent is constrained by one long trajectory and limited context, making it difficult to handle depth and coverage simultaneously. Existing multi-agent systems improve search coverage through parallel execution and aggregation, but still exhibit clear limitations in recursive depth, collaboration adaptability, and evidence-grounded expansion. We propose WebSwarm, a progressive recursive

Thermodynamics-Informed Input Reparameterization for Neural Prediction of Real-Fluid Thermodynamic Properties in Supercritical Combustion

Real-fluid thermodynamic property evaluation is a major computational cost in supercritical combustion simulations. In the enthalpy-based pressure-correction formulation, the closure evaluates temperature T, density $ρ$, and compressibility coefficient $ψ$ from the solver state (h,p,Y) through enthalpy-temperature inversion and repeated real-fluid equation-of-state evaluations. Neural-network surrogates offer fixed-cost inference, but direct mapping from (h,p,Y) to $(T,ρ,ψ)$ must capture the enthalpy-temperature relation and non-ideal equation-of-state response, resulting in a complex regressi

Failure as a Process: An Anatomy of CLI Coding Agent Trajectories

Large language model (LLM) coding agents are increasingly deployed to autonomously perform software engineering tasks in terminal-based environments, making their reliability a growing concern. Existing empirical studies investigate why coding agents fail, yet they largely treat failure as a final outcome rather than a temporal process, providing limited insight into how failures emerge, evolve, and become unrecoverable. We present the first large-scale empirical study of CLI coding-agent failure trajectories, introducing a process-oriented framework that analyzes failure through its onset, ev

Effective Learning Rate Governs Loss Dynamics in Language Model Pretraining

We uncover ELR collapse in language model pretraining: learning rate (LR) and parameter norm govern loss dynamics primarily through their ratio, the effective learning rate (ELR). When ELR is matched across runs, their loss trajectories collapse throughout training despite substantially different LRs and parameter norms. Across optimizers, architectures, datasets, and model scales, mean collapse errors are typically a few x 10^-3, below the seed-to-seed variation measured in a representative configuration. Systematic ablations identify normalization design and the timescale of LR-norm variatio

Unified Audio Intelligence Without Regressing on Text Intelligence

Audio intelligence involves understanding, reasoning about, and generating both audio and speech. In this work, we introduce Nemotron-Labs-Audex-30B-A3B (Audex), a unified audio-text LLM built on Nemotron-Cascade-2-30B-A3B, a strong text-only MoE LLM. Audex adopts a simple unified design with a single Transformer decoder: audio inputs are encoded and projected into the text embedding space, while text tokens and quantized audio output tokens are treated uniformly during generation. This architecture enables strong audio-text fusion, seamless multimodal generation, and compatibility with standa
